hi im putting a single wheeler irs diff in my vs ss what is the right oil to put in it ???
need help cheers
Have a look in ur owners manual, has everything in that. I dont know off the top of my head.
castrol saf-xa is the recommendation for all commodores, but its way overpriced for diff oil.... just a normal 85-140 should do fine
i dont have one or i would of
cheers
thanks boonz i will give it a go
cheers
I second the recommendation for Castrol SAF-XA. It may be a little higher priced than other oils, but its not like you change your diff oil every 5000kms, plus you normally need less than 2 litres I think. I did my diff about 6 months ago with it.
SYNSHIFT 75W/140 GL-5
Service Refill Capacity: 1.7 Litres

Holden Service Manual specifies:
V6 engine without LSD - Castrol LSX90, Shell XD90LS or equivalent
V6 engine with LSD and all V8s - Castrol SAF-XA, MOBILUBE SHC 80W-140 ID or equivalent.
funny thing is, on the castrol lubeguide, it says to use the SAF-XA which is fully synthetic, yet the footnote 187 says only use synthetic when diff has a "high performance" tag. I think lsd oil in a non lsd is fine anyway, use just cant use non lsd oil in an lsd.
