    Default Transmission fluid change

Hey guys I’m going to be doing a transmission fluid change. Just want to know if the is any way to drain the fluid out of the torque converter and the body of the transmission. Last time I did it the fluid was still s**ty looking after I filled her back up.

You can undo one of the trans cooler lines near the radiator and start the engine to pump out as much trans fluid as it can, then drop the trans pan as usual once the fluid stops pumping out of the cooler pipe, and dont run the car for too long once the fluid has stopped coming out of the cooler pipe..This should get most of the fluid out of the system, and keep in mind that the dry refill amount is just under 9 litres of dexron 111(3) trans fluid.Whereas when you just drop the trans pan to change the filter, the refill amount is only around 5 litres.Usually just under 5 litres.

Maybe you can change your engine oil by removing the oil sender and starting the engine to drain the oil it at the same time.

What a stupid suggestion.. Just goes to show that some people should not even be allowed near a car.

Constructive..... Some of us are only learning how to work on our cars properly (I'm 36 and only now getting people to show me the right way to do things).

Maybe a 'how to' might have been a better answer. Sorry mate I just think we should be helping one another

Its not that hard to do. I was just unsure of how to do a full drain. Doing thing by your self is fun and you end up saving heaps of money for not paying labour cost. I might take some pictures as i go and write up a how to for people. Yay or nay for a write up, what do you guys recon.

i do my full trans flush like that all the time, i drop a bit out via the cooler hose to make removing the pan easier, though i never let it run dry which is bad, i then drop the pan, change the oil and filter then fill it backup, then pull the cooler line and start er up, keep slowly filling the pan with oil while the pump will push the old oil out via the cooler hose, as soon as the fresh fluid comes through it's flushed out, put your cooler hose back on then, run it upto temp and get your level right on the hot marker.

I was being sarcastic,my point being you wouldnt do it to your engine so why would you be stupied enough to do it to your gearbox.
