Stick a 2 metre long hose (garden hose works well) into the full fuel tank, hold the filler flap open with a screwdriver, have a suitable empty fuel container ready, then you have to give the hose a big powerful suck whilst holding the end of the hose lower than the fuel tank on the car.Obviously if you suck with your lungs/throat,you will get a gut full of fuel which will make you sick,so suck with the mouth only so you dont swallow any if it comes through to quick.Anyway, once it starts to flow, keep it below the bottom of the cars fuel tank level, and fill the empty container.Once one container is full, you can just hold your thumb over the end of the hose whilst you change over containers..It will start to flow again once you let it go again,as long as its kept below the cars fuel tank level. You can buy proper syphon hoses with one way valve ,these type of hoses dont have to be sucked on,but sometimes they dont work very well either, depending on the type of fuel tank they're used in.Id recommend getting one of these and trying it,I really dont recommend anyone trying the above if theyve never done it before, but if you do attempt it,at least try it with a bucket of water first to get an idea of how quick it comes through and how to suck it with the mouth only so you dont get a gutfull..

rattler hose FTW, saves getting a mouth full if your had a few before doing it. Great write up for a first timmer wanting to know, if your never done it before your probably going to taste some petrol and have fuel going everywhere while switching jerry cans. Another tip is to use a longer length of hose as it will give you much more time also blow it out with air if using garden hose to save having water in your gogo before you start. You can also get clear hose cheap from bunnings but lol then ya gotta take that from the value of your fuel, same as a rattler its not worth it for a one off.
