hey guys, i've looked around for a resolve but so far haven't had any luck.. my transmission has been great since i've owned the car, but 2 months ago it started playing up.. it started by reving but not really going as fast as you shouldi have been going (sluggish). so i changed the filter ( it came with a grommet/bung thing but i couldn't work out where it went.. anyway it was going fine again for 3 weeks and now is doing the same thing. checked error codes but it comes up with 12 (fine).. anyone have any advice please!!!?
well the grommet thing goes where the filter goes, you need to pull the old bung out and put the new one in, otherwise what can happen is air gets sucked up by the pump and disrupts the flow of fluid into the transmission.
Before you go assuming this has happened as it is not always the case, have you checked your throttle position sensor for faults with a multimeter? not all things will log a code unfortunatly.
hey man, i had issues with my box beeing a little slow on changes and wanting to stall on reverse to drive and vice versa, the solution was bloddy Nulon($15 a bottle) that shit went in and after about 150km (time it needed to mix) no problems for 9000km then issue arose again for a few days so i did another box oil change with the nulon in it and no more troubles once more for another 8780km
Stuntmanmike: At least he didn't advise for me to check the head light fluid and bring it in to tune the radio...
Nulon is a temporary fix for certain problems only, I wont offer any more advice untill I know he has checked the TPS, It can cause so many odd issues with the auto which many people mis-diagnose as an auto issue.
Any way, i'd like to rule out something nice and easy.
Standing on the passanger side of the car looking into the engine bay you will see on the laft side of the throttle body a two wire sensor, that is the TPS.
Get your multimeter, positive is to the signal wire, earth to earth :P nice and easy, should be 5v comming from the ECU at WOT (Wide open Throttle) As you open and close the throttle it should be a smooth increase and decrease in voltage.
Gee I hope thats right anyway![]()
thanks everyone, i'll check the TPS tonight and get back...
Dropping the pan and topping up only replaces about one third of the fluid (I think) so if the fluid was well past its used by date it may need to have the system flushed out completely
