Vs Petrol Disapearing?

got vs ute, and everytime i leave it for a couple hours or over overnight a fair bit of petrol has gone. im only getting probly about 250-300km out of a tank now i used to be getting about 550-600km, ive checked the hoses and clamps near the filter and checked the fuel lines and had the car jacked up and running to see if i could spot anything, but nothing.

In the utes, petrol can leak from around the pump cork gasket, and pool in the recess that the tank sits in before evaporating away, this is what happened to me. You would think it would drain out the hole thats there for that reason, but it didnt.

Pull the big plate (nearest to the cab) out of your tray to access the fuel tank area. It's just held on with about 20 phillips head screws. Check for signs of any leaks in there and around hoses etc. Anywhere thats been leaking a while will have brownish stains where the petrol constantly runs/pools and then dries up.

thanks mate, yeah thats the problem alright, can i just buy a new seal for it or do i have to buy a whole new fuel pump?

should be able to get a seal on its own otherwise buy some gasket cork and cut one up yourself using the old one as a stylus.

This sounds like mu ute , but fuel isnt disappearing , im getting a fuel smell in the cab , but no signs of leaking..

About 1000km ago i did replace fuel pump ( happened to be 1000km from home and on a public holiday ) with new gasket. i'll pull lid and check.
