Default Problems with my vr acclaim

I have some problems with my vr

Ill be driving around for a while, stop and turn off my car. i go to start it and it just ticks? i rattle the battery around and it starts? is it a loose wire or is it my battery or something else?

Also it sometimes dont start so i have to put it in gear and try start then it starts, i got told its the ignition so i brought a new one off my mate because hes a machanic and he said that you can use that key from the new barrel for all doors, all you have to do is pop the pins out?? what does he mean by that.

Check the battery terminals - they should be clean and tight....not loose or covered with corrosion. Re the key barrel, what he means is you can disassemble the new barrel and re-arrange the pins to suit your old key.....re the put into gear to start, that possible is a mis-adjusted inhibiter switch on the auto transmission....your mechanic mate should know about that.
