Hey guys I need some help with codes 31 41 48 would that be the cas?
Code 31 - Theft Deterrent Signal missing
Code 41 - Electronic Spark Timing Circuit (EST)
Code 48 - Crankshaft Reference Signal Missing
Hope this helped
To me that looks like the cas then would I be on the right track ?
just a update i changed the balancer and crank angle sensor and reset the comp but it is still coming up with code 48 WTF?
What symptoms did you have before replacing the CAS....also after.

If its a VR or VS V6,the error code 48 = no camshaft angle sensor signal, nothing to do with the crankshaft angle sensor..This sensor is located above the balancer at the front of the engine, you can see the wires going to it.Ive had problems with this sensor before. The sensor pickup or trigger magnet is located in a hole in the camshaft sprocket, and mine had moved from its hole and hit the sensor which smashed the magnet,so I had to remove the timing cover to replace the sensor pickup magnet. You probably have bad wiring or a dodgey sensor,I doubt it would be the same problem as mine, although Ive read that with these engines in the USA,theyve had this same thing happen, and a lot of people now say that they glue the magnet in the camshaft sprocket hole so it cant move.Anyway, just check the wiring going to this sensor,or if the wiring is fine, replace the sensor. Then, if its still getting the error code,Id be checking the sensor magnet..
When my cam angle sensor wasnt working because of the broken pickup magnet, the car would idle rough or stall when idling, and just generally ran a bit crook. .

it has a ruff idle when the engine is cold when it warms up it seems to be fine before I changed the crank sensor it would not fire
Is my above post invisible???
goon to change the cam sensor today
Cam sensor shouldn't really give a rough idle.....I'd check what Brett says about the wiring to the CAS and then I'd check that the coolant temp sensor is working correctly and telling the ECU when the engine is cold - if it is faulty, the fuel mixture may be a bit lean when cold and this will give a rough idle. Other possibles may be one or more of the coils starting to fail or the DFI module or even leads or plugs although I guess you've already gone over these.
