i have an open wheeler diff in my VS now, its about 2 go... im buying an LSD diff.. to change it over do i just need just the diff or do i need 2 change the whole thing ( disc to disc )??
help much appreciated!!
If it's IRS. You only need to change just centre. Unbolt tail shaft. Both axles. And then the four diff mount bolts. And then four bolts on top of diff then your done

100% its not irs lol... its weird as i kno
any1 got any ideas ??
Rear axle needs to come off and it looks like a fair amount of work to replace the diff going by the service manual. Would probably be easier to replace the whole thing. However, others may have better advice.
cant see why you wouldnt just put an lsd centre in it but im no expert mate
Yeh, you should only need to swap the centres.
It's not too easy though so if your not familiar with them,
get your local diff shop to fit them up.
The live axle single spinner in that car is a bw78 with a 3.08 ratio, 28 spline.
For the price of an lsd centre, you could get a minispool, new bearings and 3.45's.
arent mini spools shit tho ?? like dont they bounce/ hop around corners instead of turning normally ?? thats what i heard anyways
mate piece of piss bro take u less then an hour, just buy some axle seals and bearing kits for your axles and do them at the same time, just undo ur wheels, remove your brake caliper and handbrake cables... put ur dick rotor back on reversed with ur wheel nuts on a few turns to allow movement on the studs with the disk..use this as a pull slider to remove the axles... do this 2 both sides, unbolt your diff and remove with a trolley jack and then put your new one in and redo the process, put new bearings and axle seals on the axle shafts![]()
