hi all;
i've got the usual problem of the reflectors fading on the rear tail lights and (trying to save a bit of money) i've decided to attempt to re tint them.
from what i've read / understood all it requires is a bit of spray on red glass tint whilst masking off the rest of the light.
is it really that simple? has anyone ever done it before and can give some advice? and if it all turns to shit i'll just have to get some new lights......
cheers
I reckon the cheapest and best option would be to buy some red reflective tape and stick it on their.
The tape would be the simplest....not sure if it is legal though. I did mine with a can of spray tint specially designed to go on plastic...but apparently glass paint will do the same.

The tape would be less illegal then havig white reflectors i reckon, can you just get this glass paint at bunnings? One of mine are faded aswell
Bunnings would carry the glass paint, Crazy Clarks sometimes do.....Spotlight probably as well. Problem with the paint is that you brush it on, and you can get streaks or dark patches, whereas using a spray tint you get a smooth even colour which looks just like new.
The spray I used is called "Specialty Aerosol Lens and Bulb Dye"...can cost $20.52 at Supercheap - their stock number is SP120305. It's Australian made as well. I've used it on 3 VS's and 1 Commuter van so it has paid for itself. Like I said before, the tape would be the easiest way to go but possibly not legal....plus it would be a different 'red' than the rest of the tail light whereas the spray is identical.

I went into bunnings today and found a can, it was clear though and it said refer to cap for colour rah rah, and i couldnt see how a clear die would make it red again lol?
