hey all, did the error check as per the JC guide car threw up
34 (MAP) - Voltage Too Low
48 Crankshaft Reference Signal Missing
49 Cam / Crank Shaft Signal Intermittent.
removed pin removed fuse to reset fault codes removed key left car go back a bit later car wont start, manged to get it started by putting the foot on the accelerator now its running a like an absolute pig, prior to checking it was running okish, not smooth but it was alright.
any help would be greatly appreciated, motors got 264xxx on it and its a calais if it helps
cheers ryan
Your problems are not related to doing the error check. You cant screw anything up by putting a paper clip in and bridging pins to check for codes, interestingly what fuse did you remove? you just disconnect the battery to reset the codes. Sounds like you could have somehow burnt out the MAP sensor and CAS, if they werent already stuffed. You mentioned it was already running crap. Maybe they just chose now to let go completely and it isn't related.
Either way, replace them and you should be right, both are very vital sensors, you cant really afford not to.
i removed the engine fuse as per what the Gregory book said had that next to me for the error codes, yeah ill hitch a lift down to autobarn and try and get the sensors is just a pita they chose to go now after the work if put into this car to get it going right
Removing the engine fuse is the easiest way to reset the trouble codes, (disconnecting the battery is not necessary although it also works), and is not the reason for any of your problems (and won't have burnt out the MAP sensor and CAS). CAS problems are well-known with older V6 Commodores so should be the first thing you replace.
Correct me if im wrong but does anyone else reckon this sounds like crank angle sensor???
Could be fuel pump or low battery,if battery to low womt run every thing,
battery is fine, harmonic balancer was a little worn possibly throwing off the cas went to replace it but had problems getting another one, wasn't the standard vr one had been re coed at some stage, cas is in the mail just waiting on it to arrive to put it all back together, just got to sort out the map sensor keeps reading voltage low on the error test
