Mate Id try servicing the transmission and see how it goes then.A transmission filter service kit costs around $20-$30,available at most auto places. You also need 5 litres of dexron 111(3) auto trans fluid, also around $20 - $30.You just remove the trans pan and replace the trans filter, refit the trans pan using the new pan gasket that comes with the filter service kit,,then top it up with fluid to the proper level on the trans dipstick, pretty easty really, and way cheaper than paying to get it done, which can cost $100 or more.(Im not sure on this price,it may be a lot more these days)..

Hmmm the 2-4 band is adjustable by use of different length pins.

However that wont fix your problem :P do the service but I would say you should look at what else may be causing the issue, kind of hard if you don't know what your doing I guess.

My 2 bob's worth says to go and spend about $15 on a transmission "stop slip" treatment from SuperCheap or Repco....there are quite a few available and the can make the clutches grip a bit smoother and delay the time you will need a new transmission ($2000+).
They cannot do any harm and can make quite a difference.

slipping can be caused by a plethora of things, untill an auto is stripped down it can be hard to tell exactly where the problem is occuring, or at the very least untill an expert drives the vehicle. I am a little reluctant to start suggesting parts to replace simply because it could all end up being a waste of money, what if the problem in your case is a failing pump, or simply a blocked filter, or an incorrectly installed filter allowing air into the valve body?

As above the only things you can do yourself are to do a service and to add a bottle of stop slip/auto treatment. When you do the service make sure you replace the bung that the filter goes into.

If the problem continues after this point just take it to your nearest wrecker that does changeover autos, normally they do them for $300-$400 installed with a 3 month warranty.

Glad to hear you gave it a crack. I would be interested to hear how you go with a changeover box if you decide to go down that route.
