    Default Brake pad clunk

    Hi everyone,

Does anyone know what is causing the following problem? I cant remember this happening with the old pads, although the new pads were put in when I bought the car.

It seems when I brake and come to a near stop, the brake pads make a clunk noise.

The pads are fitted correctly with the shims, and when I had the wheel off, I can push the brake pad towards the rear of the car a few millimetres. Is sort of sits there with the pressure the caliper and piston is pushing on it, although you can then knock the pad slightly and it springs towards the front of the car slightly.

So I guess the pad is slightly "loose". Originally I thought it was suspension related although this proves otherwise.

    Any ideas???

You might need new clips/springs the tension in them might be too loose and the callipers might be the problem the pistons might be stuffed in them

The brakes were checked out about 6 months ago and new pads with anti rattle shims fitted as well, so I think the tension is ok?

When you push the pad back, is it just the pad moving or are you pushing the piston as well? You shouldn't be able to move the piston by hand.
    How does the pedal feel?

Just the pad, so with the wheel off and the caliper still on, if I put a bit of pressure on the pad, I can move it back slightly.
The brake pedal feels good and there are no issues with braking
