lol 11kw at the rears i find that hard to believe,i have MSD coils on my Vt and rate them pretty good..in saying that normal ones are ok!!
you can get MSD coils and iridium spark plugs for like $250 which is excellent value

I know that theres definitely a noticable difference between the genuine holden coils and some of the cheaper aftermarket coils. With the genuine ones the car starts better and just generally runs better..Ive tried both sets, both brand new sets, and thats how I came to the above conclusion about the cheapo coils compared to the genuine coils...Id like to see if theres any difference between the red MSD performance type coils shown in the link in the above post, the yellow coils in the link back up in the first post, and the genuine holden coils.I noticed that the yellow coils are made by GE and BASF.I reckon the'd probably be as good as MSD brand..

Plugs don't make a huge difference, I have the Bosch Platinum Ir-Fusion, defiantly is smoother and more responsive but not worth $140 for 6 I got them for $59 delivered from US part number 4504 (L36/Ecotec V6)

Aftermarket coils are not worth it. From memory Super 6 coils are better. For plugs the standard ones Holden use outperform the rare metal types.

I have to say, when it comes to the ignition system on Ecotecs - Don't #### with things that are working fine. !! As soon as I replaced the first coil on mine i had problems for ever after.
What i would recommend you do if you've still got all original coils, DFI etc is go buy a spare DFI and set of coil packs from a wrecker and store them safely in the boot. One day you will need them, you just don't know when or which part you will need.

The eBay MSD coils that have been mentioned are a lot cheaper than the standard Holden Bosch ones!! I was quoted $175ea for the standard ones so how does that save you money?
