First thing is to do a fault code check: Checking error codes VR/VS (Revised)

Other possibles are loose/corroded battery terminals or the main cable at the back of the alternator failing....both these can cause you problem and are easy to check.

check fault codes and check back that will help point in the right direction without pending unnecessary money on things that arent needed. but if you want to play the guessing game. maybe the alternator. as once you get that belt moving she fires up again. but that may not trigger the engine light. bit of a mystery until you get back with error codes.
