hey, every time i turn the wheel in my vr theres a rough sound like parts moving with no lubrication, i have checked the fluid level and theres fluid in there. got told by a bob jayne t-mart guy that the steering rack is leaking, so as soon as i got told that i went to the mechanics and they said its fine, could it just be the power steering pump????![]()
ok dumb it down for me haha, whats the bulkhead?
It will be the grommet located down the bottom of the steering column where it goes through the firewall - the column turns in this plastic grommet and make a whiny/moany sort of noise whenever it's turned. Fix is to spray with WD40 or similar - best access is from under the car looking up. This problem is very common and lots of people have been misled by unscrupulous mechanics who are out to make a fast buck.

so i gotta jack up the car yea?
Well.. Yeah.. Unless you're skinny enough to get under there without jacking it. I usually just chuck it up on ramps briefly.
i have a trolley jack and stands so that should do, aite awesome thanks guys its a bloody annoying noise
I just put some grease on the end of a thin stick and use it to lubricate the grommet. Easy and you don't need to jack up the car.
