Hard pedal is a booster problem.
    May be faulty.

Does your cam have heaps of overlap?
This kills vacuum at idle so the booster will only 'recharge' off throttle.

I still would go with a faulty booster.

Is it like hitting the brake when the car isn't running?
As mentioned above, it would have to be booster.

    it has a little overlap.

its like pumping the brake up with the car off but goes down to it normal position.

But it's still hard? Like yu have to put a lot of pressure into it?
Maybe look into the sliders on the calipers?
Take them off and grease them a bit and it should assist in the moving.

Also check that your booster is getting vaccum from the engine.
As said above you may your new engine may not be developing enough vacuum.
You may need to have a vacuum tank fitted if the booster is ok.

Ok every thing looks ok, im going to put the booster fault out of the problem as it was fine before the rebuilt and cant hear air being pulled in, so im going to put it down to the fact i have not enough vacuum on idle to power the booster.

So what are these vacuum tanks your talking about surfwagon and how do they work mate...

Use a vacuum gauge to test how much vacuum you have. Test it at the end of the line to the booster. It maybe something simple like a blockage.

Vacuum tanks (as used in Phase III GTHOs) are a storage tanks mounted between the manifold and booster. Use a one way valve between the manifold and booster tank. The old vacuum trailer brakes used a decent sized storage tank, maybe you could track down one of those, if you need it?

    Rule:
TEST everything before you replace anything.

Ok cool, do you know what the minimum vacuum the booster will safely operates at, i think my tuner said when he had his laptop hooked up to the computer doing a base tune he way saying it should have for vacuum on idle than what it did have, im not sure but when i looked it was around the 65 mark.

Also to my trip computer is skitzing out when i free rev the car it beeps and is saying im getting 99L/100km and on idle im getting 0L/100km what the F*&K

You got me there. I'll have to look that up.

Mabe test it with a gauge then ring a brake specialist and ask if its enough?
