well as title states i just shelled out for a manual conversion. i drive my car pretty hard and have been told a heavy duty clutch is a MUST. and is best to do it now when installing conversion og and get flywheel machined. i have been looking on ebay and saw there is a HD one for 230 and they have sold 64 of them so they must be ok lol.
COMMODORE CLUTCH KIT VN VP VR VS V6 Heavy Duty 88-96 | eBay
apparantly the clutch kit comes with some things you should change with a new clutch for better reliability. i am trying to do this right and get everything at its best. is there anything else that should be greased/ changed. oh and the gearbox oil is drained what would be the best fluid ?? also maybe some aftermarket things like pedals as the ones on the pedal box are shabby, maybe short shifters.
any input guys. would be much appreciated![]()
hmm seems to be a few opinoins on which oil to use, I just grabbed these from the search bar on the top right.
Gearbox oil for T5

best oil for T5?
I would assume from reading these threads that fully synthetic ATF like SIN or such is the go buddy.
As for what to change with the clutch? bearing/bush spigot, fork rubbers, MOUNT! ummmmmmm anything external that can perish or wear out.
yea dude thats what im going to do. but on the subject of clutches what should i be getting a 500 dollar one, 250$ etc i even saw ones for a 1000. what would you recommend
What ever clutch you go with just be wary of where the riverts that attach the clutch plate as i had a turbo car few years ago and i ate two centers out of the cluch plate ripped the riverts right out. just have look at different brands some may have more riverts than others. sorry to jump in but just a thought, i know it would suck if you had to do it agian, Exedy was the brand i kept destroying, i think i went to PBR.
ohk thats odd as i thought exedy was a well respected brand. anyways will prob just get the 250 dollar kit
