20w-50 is the oil to use,but if your car has high kms on it then use the 20w-50 heavy duty oil.I use the Repco brand oil its the same stuff but cheaper to buy.

A better oil than the hpr 30 is the penrite pro 15, you can't buy it in 5 lt bottles just 205 lt drums. But if you go into a workshop that uses penrite oil they can sell it to you, it's a 15w 50. Thats what I use in my 5lt

145000 isnt high so no need for the heavy duty oil and if you can afford the penrite oil then get that

i have given my vs a flogging for the last 40000ks. my engine has done 330000ks and has never missed a beat. i recommend NULON 15w stuff comes in a orange container and is rather expensive. and if you have some spare cash buy some additives. i swear by the stuff were others dont. i believe they work and once again i believe nulon stuff does the job. so does wynns. try some fuel injector cleaner, engine flush (if you do exactly what the bottle says very very small chance of doing damage) oil treatment (my favourte).

i just did my service and went on a 700km trip and only used one tank of fuel. which i believe is very good for a v6 ecotec

i have top gun leads, new spark plugs, injector cleaner every month. 15w nulon oil with the performance oil treatment, 2.5 exhaust from the cat, removed the "pooper scooper" as i like to call it, air filter changed every 10000, bp ultimate every time hit the open road. set cruise to 100 and she is at about 1800 revs. i reckon you would get similar results.

If yours is a 6, open the plenum clean that out, clean the throttle body, run a few tanks of 98 with a injector cleaner, make sure ya coil, leads and plugs are all working sweet, then maybe look at a tranyy and diff service new oils filters ect in them

I like Nulon, I use 10w synthetic (yellow bottle) in my Supercharged ecotec and have done since it was 160k old. Now its 240k old and still going great.

Good choice. I'm using Penrite HPR15 15w60 but will definitely use the 20w60 from now on in an attempt to eliminate a slight piston slap.

I have tried a couple of different types in my 5l including magnatec, what i have settled on is penrite 10w 50, good for winter and summer. i don't think you need a 60 weight oil with 145000k.

I have just switched my VS over to Castrol EDGE Sport 25W-50

I was using Penrite before but IMO the EDGE is great stuff, think I will stick with it now.
