Default VS Auto Ecotec, Hesitation on throttle and dropping power into 2nd.

It is hard to explain but basically, when you take off and accelerate slowly it feels sluggish as if it is in 2nd gear, then when u tap the throttle a little harder is accelerates like normal it kinda feels like something is holding it back or as if it is surging pulling forward then back.

Also if your giving it a bit and it starts spinning in first when the car shifts into 2nd the power just dies for a second stops spinning then begins to built the revs again. It isn't a problem with the box as this is the 2nd box, could it be the TPS or Diff?

    Any help would be appreciated.

I think it still is 3.08s as I haven't changed them unless the previous owner did. It sits on around 2200-2300rpm @ 110 if that helps anything.

No I haven't tried cleaning it as yet since I norm don't get back until late. Might give it a shot on the weekend, what did you use to clean it?

Carbon clean it man, rip the plenum & throttlebody off. If you've never done it you will likely be in shock from the amount of shite you'll find.

Best thing I ever did to mine (had similar issues), get that off, scrub it, clean the TPS / IAC. With the IAC I found mine was making weird noises when spinning up (when the key was to acc), so I just replaced it. $48 off ebay much better.

Other than that try injector cleaner, if that clears it up - then you likely have rooted injectors but you can always run the cleaner through it and see if it comes back. If it comes back, don't waste time just throw some reco injecors in it and you won't know the car (assuming it's got original injectors / iac and never been cleaned)

Just carby cleaner and a good wipe with a cloth,or you can get throttle body cleaner but its not cheap, and if its not that bad just wipe it off.But I agree with Nathan give the plenum a clean as well you will be shocked to see how dirty that is.

I been meaning to do the Inlet Manifold gasket for some time now, the car has 182,000 KM on it and looks like it hasn't been touched. So I think I will get stuck into it on the weekend and hope that the problem goes away.

Thanks for the help and advice.
