The noise on the video when you have the ignition turned off sounds like a relay to me. There are relays in the fuse box under the driver side dashboard, and also in the engine compartment relay housing on the driver side strut tower. Can you isolate where the noise is coming from and replace that relay? Also I would pull out and re-seat all your fuses and relays (while each fuse is out test their continuity with a multimeter if you have one).
It was coming from the ABS Relay mate and further up towards the ignition switch.
Its really got me stumped, as it doesn't throw a code... It'll start up in the morning, but once it warms up she goes rat shit.
I was looking around the engine bay for the earth point for the block... cant remember seeing one.
They unlock range on my key is good... so i dont think its the key.
Any ideas :/
Cheers,
Jake.
theres one earth in between the alternator and the aircon compressor. it looks like a bolt with lots of extra thread and a nut on it. the other one is near the power steering pump. and the third one should be attached to the frame next to the relay box and the battery attached to the inside wheel arch
Could only find the earth at the negative battery terminal. The others i could not see :/
Doesnt seem right ?
I found these to be strange too.. My gregories manual wasnt much help.
I dont know which way they are supposed to go :/ and if the lid is actually correct.

Positive Wire going to the main fusible link

I dont know why they are so big. I've resized them to 150x100 .. :/

Those are your fusable links. they are essentially fuses but they are able to handle much greater amps and voltage. they are for things like your starter motor and altinator that draw and use high currents. ill take a picture of the 2 earths on my car now. ill put them up in a minute.
Yeah thanks man. I understand what they do just... in which order and in what amps they are supposed to be. According to the shroud they are wrong?
well i think the middle one looks blown, may just be the picture. umm... only way to test is to pull one of them out and try the thing it is ment to corrispond to. if u do one of the end ones, means you could loose one of 2 things in your car. i tried to upload some pics of the engine earth points. i dunno if they worked or not but if not have a look in my albumns to see them. there in the albumn called my poor baby
can you resize the pics so that i can read whats on the lid?
Does anyone think this could be a problem ? It had tape around it... It just looked bad.

I've put the links underneath them.
usual suspects, start with the basics, relays, are any of the tabs on them looking black/corroded/dirty moved them all around in different spots? tried another bcm as it seems to have alot of electrical related problems and not just 1 thing, fairly random ones?
tried another key if you have one? does it have central locking, if so does it work all the time or do you have to be close to the car and press the buton many times?
on the front of the engine to the right of the water pump, under the coil packs, there are 2 black wires with eyelets screwed to the block, they're tight and not moving around?
the big black earth lead running from the battery to the side of the block to a bolt holding the engine mount, is it still secured well and not lose?
once again, the small black earth led going from the battery terminal to the car's body? same thing, secure and not moving around?
do you have a set of jumper leads? when it's being a bitch try using a single lead, place 1 end on the negative battery terminal and the other on say the alternator bracket and see if that makes a difference.
near the battery are 2 plugs, a grey one and a black one, undo them and make sure they are clean as above....
don't think the pic is a problem, just looks like someone has spliced into it for something, aslong as it's well insulated it can't hurt.
I think that fusible link cover (lid) shown in the above pic is off an earlier model and thats why it shows different amperage fusible links to whats actually installed. It was the later VN's or VP's that changed from using the engine injection and engine computer fusible links to using the single "Engine" fusible link in VP. This was changed again in the VR, the proper VR cover should say (from closest to the engine outwards)
ABS 60 A
Fan 40A
Main 60A
Headlamps 40A
Blower 30A
whats the differance between the fan and the blower? just curious
Ones the cooling fan for the engine, ones the heater fan(blower).
Went to start the car and forgot the ignition switch was out... now the key is stuck at on ?
I've just recently replaced the key barrel so it cant be that?
has it jammed? try taking it out and reseating it
Yeah, gunna have to take the switch out tomorrow... sigh.
The earth between the coilpacks and water pump seem to be okay.
ok. have you tried a different battery? checked all your relays and fuses are working/ have clean terminals?
Havent tried a different battery. The relays look all relatively new... Its because its an intermittent problem i cant really test it until it happens.. and it usually happens at the worst time.
Cheers,
Jake
Im swapping over the tank and sender with a second hand one from the wreckers.
I lose power on right hand turns and the fuel gauge is absolutely inaccurate..
I've read somewhere that these can cause intermittent starting issues such as winding over but not firing.
The problem being the swirl pot on the inside + return lines.
And maybe the sender is just rat shit.
So maybe i can fix three things in one go..![]()

Whaaat is wrong with my caaar !!!!!!
New fuel tank + sender ... still does it :/
BCM from the wreckers is on its way. A direct match for my car... Was extremely hard to track down.
New keypad from holden coded to the BCM.
All should be happening next week... If that doesnt work; Ill be replacing all the earth leads/battery terminals/ Power leads running from the battery.
