so my boyfriend has a vs commodore with a t35 turbo on it,, we noticed the other day that oil was coming out of the dipstick,, when we got the car home his mate showed up, they then took the car for another drive (his mate was driving) by the time they got back the car was on fire,, we managed to get it out.have since taken the turbo off and checked everything, bolted turbo back on yesterday and noticed that the turbine wheel is not spinning dose this mean he needs a new turbo or maybe a rebuild???? its seems to spool up but instead of a normal sneeze on the bov its just like a wierd sound please help as im tired of hearing about it lol![]()
Well that doesnt sound good. My guees is you will prob need a new turbo and replace some parts around the engine area and definetly find the cause of the problem because u dont want to get a new turbo and the same thing happen to it.
oil comming out of the dipstick sounds like the crank case is being pressurised, somehow your compressed air is getting into the crank case. Look at the PCV valve operation and any other crank case vent systems that are connected to your air intake system, I suppose head issues could potentially cause problems too if the gasket has blown.
As for the turbo not spinning I don't know.
Thats all I can help you with turbos arn't my thing.
Your always going to get boost past the ring infact it actually helps seal the rings better if your pushing out the dipstick your pcv isnt breathing enough as said above you need either a new pcv or run a bigger breather system.
As for turbo spooling are you getting boost? is it a genuine gt35? if it spools up then your turbine must be spinning id say you must have a leak somewhere if your not seeing boost

My first thought was exhaust gas blowing past the seal into the oil line, thus pressurizing the crank case.
PCV might be ok, but not big enough to flow the amount of gas going past the turbo seal.
Thats just a guess.
cheers,, will let you no how we go
hey peepz got the turb re piped and now when i try and up the boost or put my foot flat it coughs and splatters backfires and carry on,, any ideas???
Your new dipstick has not solved the problem, only hidden the symptom. Your turbo is still pressurising the crankcase, probably because the crankcase breather is plumbed into the pressure side of the intake (IE after the turbo) rather than the vac side (before the turbo) where it should be.
Also, if your turbo is seized then its time for a new one or a rebuild. I would also be checking how much oil pressure is being delivered to the turbo - with an oil pressure guage.
Well its like this .last week my partner got the vs running absolutly beautiful, chirpin first second and yeah the male things in a car lol.anyways after this he was driving normally out of the woolworths car park and the next thing you no the tailshaft spat away from the gearbox and the gear box shifted and he was left with just the gear knob in his hand. because of this we have just done an auto conversion,, went to wind it over it wound over but didnt start, had reds and then smelt something burning it was the power cable to the battery, so he unhooked the cable and rewired it tried to start it and nothing as the main engine fuse was blowen so he changed that and still nothing except the hazards stay on now and there is no reds at all,
the car has a vt motor and box and currently unsure on what computer it is as we picked it up from the wreckers and the lacky we have cant remember wich car he got it from could this be the problem????????????????????????
ineed him to fix my car toooooo please help
