Hi everyone..
Okay, so.. Randomly my Power Steering has gone from great! to poor, ..
It' takes a bit more force to turn (not much..But defiantly noticeable..)
Now, the fluid is still high enough and seems ok..
I thought, for this to happen its either, air in the system or bad fluid?
Or the pump itself..
Tomorro afternoon Im going to check into it, can anyone suggest things to look and notice before I sus her out?
Thanks
All helpful comments I will give + Rep..![]()
Mine did the same thing a few weeks ago, I ended up dumping the old fluid and changed it over. Bled the system and its all good againNot sure if that will help your cause.
Could be a pump issue, are you noticing any leaks?
Thanks for the reply bud, I do know the fluid in it is no doubt old, more than a year.. So I will defiantly change it, as for bleeding the system, what are the steps to bleed it correctly? Thanks
Thanks for the reply budd, much to my joy, there is no leaks !! The pump sounds OK, and does not wobble around or anything, also there are no vibrations coming from the rack, so I "Think" its ok ! (I hope, lol.)
Cap off front wheels jacked up 3 turns lock to lock apparently.
Welcome to the internet where people have opinions that you might not like
Yep, I just jacked it off the ground and went full lock to lock a few times worked fine.
Thanks for replys, rep coming out now..
Soo.. I checked it over, and seems like its fluid contamination ! =( ..
I will be dropping it, and replacing the hoses and clamps to be on the safe side, they are not looking to healthy..
Can anyone also suggest what's good to clean the Power Steering Overflow Bottle with? I would like it make it really smick, it's looking rather ill LOL !
EDIT - .. Also, thank fully its tax time soon , also gonna get it booked in for a check-over on the Rack too.. I've been told they have a common fail in them .
EDIT x2 - I can't give you any more rep lol Wraith, seems like I not long ago gave you some hehe..
hey bud do you want to wash the outside of the bottle or the inside ? For the outside just use some kinda mild degreaser, there's a few water based ones around.
For the inside you (obviously ) need to remove the bottle first, then flush it something like kero, or some more degreaser, parts washer etc. Chech the strainer mesh inside- that might give you a hint whats gone wrong with the rack or pump. blow it out with air then flush it again with clean tranny fluid to wash out the degreaser just to make sure you're not contaminating your system.
