hey guys my car is making a really strange sound from under the hood it soulds like its coming from the middle of the block and from under sounds like near flywheel, the sound is an untimes almost random cherp sound like a bird... its not a bird by the way.

we took it to a place they said it was the balance shaft, so we pulled the engin apart and tryed to get berrings and stuff for it. no where had them so rang a proformance shop he said dont put it back in so we didnt.
put it all back together and closed my eyes and started the car "BOB SAGIT!!!". it didnt work still made the sound so i was like stuff this and im still driving it.

yestaday when i was leaving work started my car OMG its gone and i go to take off car revs up to 3000 and is just moving O_o take my foot of stop go agian it goes and BAM! the sound comes back

any idear???

Have you checked the belt a worn belt makes this noise

if you left the balance shaft out, did you block up the oil feed hole?

will cause oil feed issues if you didn't. people usually just leave them in, but take the gear off the front.

Do you mean the serpentine belt if that's how's it's spellt umm how's that make noise from the back of the motor Do you mean bands in trans? They don't slip if it's making the noise only when you do a cold start it slips for about 5-10 seconds and bam your off but the noise comes back but no slipping. Oh and I noticed today when idling when the Cherp happens the revs drop a little bit with the sounds????

When I replace my a/c idler pulley, this sound started, and disappeared after I changed the serpentine belt
