Probably been asked a few times I guess, but I want to be dead certain before I go ahead with this.
Will a VN 5 speed (T5) bolt on to a series 1 VS (Ecotec) that currently has a 4 speed auto?
I am about to buy the 5 speed box and a buick motor, the motor I don't really want to put in my car but that's just included in the sale, so I'll probably sell it off afterwards. Will the 5 speed bolt in? doesn't matter if it needs parts from the Buick motor because I'll have them all at the ready. Tailshaft, diff whatever, all at the ready.
Cheers, Matt.
is it a series one VN ?
If it is a series one VN then the answer is NO! ask how many bolts the flyweheel has, for it to fit your VS it needs an 8 bolt flywheel. If we wanted to get technical yes the gearbox will bolt up but you would need a new flywheel which generally go from $400 to $800
So if it's a, for example series 1 VN, I can't take the flywheel off that motor to bolt into my motor?

So the series one manual engine flywheel won't fit a series one VS automatic engine crank? how's about a series 2 VN manual?
I'm just trying to work this all out in my head, to figure out if I can bolt this T5 on to my Ecotec. Cheers!
Cheers for the link, that first post made a lot of things quite clear to me!
Possibly silly question, but the VN manual would have been T5 from S1 to S2? so if I could get my hands on a VN series 2 flywheel wouldn't it work on my Ecotec with the VN T5 gearbox?
the box is the same the only holdup is the flywheel.
i have a t5 gearbox, but i have a vz sv6 engine in my car, i would rather my old vr buick motor
