    Default weird idle problem ?

Well quite simply when the car is in park the revs drop right don and the car almost stalls and then it goes back to a 1000 revs and keeps going up and down. any ideas on what may be causing this.

oh and lately it has been stalling when putting into drive ? only on rare occasions though

Id first try checking for any logged error codes.Heres a link to a post that shows you how to do this simple test.If you scroll down near the bottom of the page in the link, theres also some excellent pic of the testing process..Let us know how it goes and what codes you get..Also run the error checking test for at least a minute as it flashes up a code 12 ,three times before it flashes up any logged error codes..

ok well i doubt its plugs, leads, fuel filter etc they were all changed about 20000k with top gun leads and iridium plugs etc. but you never know ! i have got no error codes just twelve which is the all clear. and another thing i have noticed is in park if i put my foot on the brake the revs rise ?. and if i put the car in drive with my foot on the brake its fine but if the handbrake is on when the car is put into drive it will stall ??. i just cleaned the plenum because a mate suggested it but no change. i was thinking maybe tps or maf ?

The MAF,silly question but why didnt you clean the MAF when you did the plenum? And the plugs and leads can stuff up it only takes one not to work

Some of the symptoms you are getting could be TPS related, although this is the first time I have heard of a TPS needing to be cleaned !!!

revs rise with foot on brake? might be a vacuum leak in the booster there somewhere that only happens when your foots on the brake

The TPS are supposed to be resistant to most things but occasionally grime might get into the end connection this is what I have been told

upon cleaning all the sensors i have noticed when you start the car up now the revs rise to 2000 rpm then drop down after a few seconds. now my idle problem in park looks like it has disappeared but not the put it into drive and it stalls. that has gotten worse still no fault codes listed. once you are cruising or whatever goes really well

Exactly this happened to my mates calais and it turns out it was a split vacuum line. The only way we discovered where it was, was to spray "start-ya-bastard" around the lines when the car was at idle. If the cars idle rises then you have found your leak.

and the stalling is exactly what mine was doing too, unfortunately, it was a new trans that fixed it
