First of all I apologize its not my intention to keep posting thread after thread but there wasn't enough specifics in search for this one.
OK so to the point I think I have a bit of a blockage on my oil pickup, and I want to remove the sump to take it out and clean it, now I had a look under the car and I'm confident I can get to all the bolts but I don't know whether I'll be able to get the sump out of where it is, and I'm wanting to avoid the k frame drop but will it be necessary or will I be able to squeeze the sump out, maybe even by undoing the front bolts on the sway bar and sliding it out forward?
Secondly, I assume its OK to put the same oil back seeing as I only changed it like 200ks ago, I won't run the risk of something being missed by the filter if it goes back in from the top?
Bonus round, Can I just clean the sump ( inside and out) and pickup off with degreaser, rinse with hot water and let it dry off, I ask because its been ages since I've had to do something like this and I can't remember. Also if this is better suited to V8 development could a mod please move it I'm not sure with these types of questions.
Thanks
I personally would not use the same oil. If you have a blockage then you can bet there is gunk floating around in the oil that is there. As for taking the sump out i have no idea what a V8 one is like.
I think you have to either raise the engine or lower the K frame to get the sump out..Also I wouldnt use the same oil. After having an engine apart,it can get crap floating around, its hard not to get things dirty when your working on a dirty old engine,so I always firstly run some cheap oil though it for a while, say half an hour or so,then I drop that oil and refill it with the proper oil I want to run,and I also change the oil filter at this time as well.As far as cleaning things up.Id buy a few litres of diesel and a couple of cheap paint brushes and get a cheap plastic parts washing pan.Things like the oil pickup pipe should also be blown out and dried with compressed air after theyve been washed.
Thanks guys, I'm still not sure on whether to use the oil or not still because the old oil was 3000ks old when I changed to this one and thats filter as well both times, I'm not sure whether theres a blockage yet per se so there may not be any crap floating around thats why I'm leaning towards re using it but it has a knock/tap on very cold start up for a few secs, and I've sorta narrowed it down to either pick up or galleries. And I read that you need to raise or drop but looking at it I reckon that with the sway bar out of the way you could slide it out, I'm hoping someone has some experience with it. But I'm not 100% thats how its set up as how I've drawn it but you get the picture.

Ahhh I'm retarded, the oil pickup would probably put a stop to that idea seeing as it descends into the sump. Looks like I'll have to borrow the engine crane from work or something, and use up some precious, precious leave.
Edit: I also found threads on it now, most likely will have to drop K frame.
Next question, the K frame hits the steering rack and is putting some chips in it, can I adjust the rack or less likely K frame parallel with the car (front to back) to stop it. Or alternatively should I take it back to the people who just put that rack in and get them to fix it, although I wouldn't want to because I fear their retaliation (I reckon most mechs 'fix' it so you have to go back, I say most because the ones I know personally are good people so they are out there).

Pull the engine out of the car.
If you mess with the K frame you then need a wheel alignment.
I had to pull mine for oil leaks from the sump.
Some people change good oil at 5k, so I would not risk anything with the oil & just use new.
1 grain of dirt & the motor can end up Toast!
Cheers mate, I spose I will change the oil then, I might go for the K frame drop though because I'd rather getting a $50 wheel alignment than dropping all the coolant, getting new header gaskets, and trying to attempt my first engine removal by myself, not to mention getting it all back in by myself.
Can anyone give me some pointers on the process of removing the K frame? I know its a bit of a pull bits off one by one until it comes out so I'm not 100% on what will come out. And I read somewhere you get locktight for the main bolts to the chassis when you put it back in, and assuming that some bushes will be removed do I put a bit of grease on them as I put them back in, and for supporting the engine I see where I can attach the chain to the back of the engine but not the front? noob questions but I haven't done it before.
Thanks
