Hey guys, I have put a new cam in on the weekend, now in the final stages before i fire it up, I have got cylinder1 at TDC on compression stroke, rotor button pointing to #1 lead, dizzy bolted down. But when I put the dizzy cap on and clamp it down it moves and slips on the top of the dizzy. I have even put a new cap on but makes no difference. I also cannot feel any leads or hoses that are putting any force on the cap to stop it locking down. Any help is much appreciated. Thanks, Lucus.
The clip moves? If this is the problem make sure the clip hinge hasn't lifted itself on one side. It will not clamp flat on the dizzy cap if the clip isn't hinge properly.. Bit also make sure your rotor button is on properly.
Does the notch in the distributor body line up with the lug on the cap?
If I told you I was a compulsive liar, would you believe me?
As 304runner says, if it moves and slips, then the rotor button isn't on properly, in which case I'm surprised that you could get the clips fastened. They are hard enough to do at the best of times.
ok guys, i'll have a crack at this in the morning, thanks for the input and I will post back as to how I go!!
