Default Would a tie rod end cause this?

    Hi All

Just got back from a 4000KM road trip around Victoria and around 600km out of Adelaide I started noticing the passenger side of the car seemed to be vibrating/knocking around a little bit which was causing the steering to shudder a little at 110 on the freeways.

I stopped to check that the wheel nuts etc were ok but being in the middle of no where and wanting to get home I continued to drive.

Now upon getting the car up on ramps today I have gone over the front end and all seems to be ok except the passenger side tie rod end's ball joint has completely collapsed/gone lopsided. would a bad ball joint be the cause of these symptoms?

Praying for it to be something nice and cheap like that :P

    Thanks Guys

(Also FYI I doubt it would be the wheel balance causing the shudder as they are all brand new tyres that were aligned and balanced before I left)

I would instantly assume this is ur problem if you just had them fitted and balanced, sounds like they didnt balance them right, or a weight wasnt stuck on properly and has flown off.

If the tie rod end is gone, replace it and see if that fixes it. If not, +1 for the wheel out of balance, especially if it was recently done.

Swap the front wheels side to side and see if does it then.

you are saying your ball joint has collapsed , im sure that would be causing your problems
i'd replace that ball joint and tie rod end and you will need another alignment
