i just bought a 94 vr ute and from full down to half a tank it reaks in the cab of fuel , i looked thru manual and it had tank troubles from new so i took cover off and it had been braised up so car dealer i bought it off got repco to replace tank with 2nd hand tank and it's been back to them 3 times cause it still smells of fuel and they cant find where its coming from , any ideas?
Its mostly caused by split or broken fuel tank breather hoses in the fuel tank area, especially check the one that runs from the fuel tank to the purge cannister in the engine bay,it can split up in the engine bay area causing fumes to go back through the cabin...its a common problem with utes.Theres been plenty of people who have posted up about this problem and have fixed it..
Yeah this happens with my ute too. Plenty of threads on here mentioning the same thing. One bloke said it was a split in the tank seams and another had breather line issues. Both of which can happen to yours.
Yep just had a problem just like yours found a hose disconnected at the tank rip up the front panel in the tub and see whats happening (only a couple of screws) if its a hose just follow it back or forward to the engine bay and presto if its at the tank end pull your drivers side seat forward and you will see a panel remove have a tourch handy and you will see where they go all the best any probs or more info PM me
check the o rings around the injectors as this will also give a fuel smell in the cab.
i hope that helps.
yea m8 had the very smae problem for about 1 year and i fixed it 2 days ago
take off ur inside pannel and u see a breather and u will probley notices its not connected or broken, the side pannel is on the right hand side of tub
thanks , will pass it on to him and he can get it done , it has a rubber mat in the back and when i lifted it up the front panel didn't even have bolts in it
yeah all the breather lines crack over time i had the same problem with a 93 ute i had and i had to replace all the hoses
i have the same problem wiht my vs ute, excuse my stupidity but where are these breather lines and which hatch/hatches do i need to pull up? thanks in advance
Making a 4 cylinder fast is like telling everyone your gay. At first you might suprise a few people but in the end, you're still a fag.
the big flat panel on the floor of the tray the tank is under that also take of the panel behind the fuel filler. trace and replace the lot of them i did one hose that was cracked then acouple of weeks later had to take it all back out again so just do them all in one go for piece of mind.
i took the panel off behind the filler point and the thin hose that comes out the bootom of that little half moon container thing thats clamped on down the filler alittle is curled up above it and zip tied there with a bolt srewed in the end of it , is that right?
and the small hose on top of the tank that goes to that half moon thing is cracked alittle , should it be clamped to the tank cause its just pushed on
