i have a 97 manual vs ute stock standard but i also have a vr sedan i smashed that has a dash with the tacho in it my ute doesnt have that can i simply pull the cluster out and put the vr one in and have my tacho or is it more involved than that?
If you melt the holes in the green PCB and scratch the coating off to make it a good contact you can fit the tacho and temp/fuel gauge to your ute cluster. That way your seat belt light will work.
The PCB on the back of a VR cluster has a different number to the VS but basicly the same. The VR lens has air bag warning and the VS lens has seat belt warning.
But the VR L2 cluster should work 99% in the VS.

Ive noticed that not all the VS models have the seatbelt warning light in the dash.It seems that the early VS's didnt have it.Mine doesnt have it,its late 1995 model VS,and Ive seen a few other VS's without this warning light and they have all been 1995 model VS's too.
Such a common thing even in cars of thoses days, I always wondered why they didn't put a seat belt light in the VS's. Not even in the Calais/ Berlinas...
my 1996 vs berlina has a seat belt light so did my old 96 berlina tho both are series 2
In my vs and by the seatbelt light cane on when you started the car then disappeared 10s later whether you plugged the seatbelt in or not.
A seatbelt light isn't much good even if it works imo
being from an auto to a manual will the speedo be out at all? is it a big job i was thinkin of doing it while i fit the stereo
Nah it shouldn't. I had to get a new cluster but my trip still ain't working. My rid recently got a conversion to t5
And nah. Should be just plug and play
