hey guys, slowly restoring my ute back to its former glory but have a few problems that im not 100% clear on
1. the seat belt light doesn't come on on the dash (dunno if my ute even has one of those sensors in the belt for the light to go off)
2. the Low fuel light doesn't come on at all
i know that the fuel light is a common problem and that there is no simple fix
any help would be great
Cheers
In my VS ute the seatbelt sign used to light up for about 3 seconds when you started the engine whether you had the seatbelt on already or not.
Guess its more of a reminder than anything.
Since when did VS's have seat belt warning lights? Was this a later model addition or a ute special??
i think the later model vs has seatbelt warning, its after a certain vin number. early model vs has air bag warning (for L3 clusters anyway)
did you try and replace the globes?
hey mate do them lights come on when you put your car on acc? if not they may be just blown
na the lights don't come on when the key is turned to acc, also i think that only the S3 VS had the seat belt warning light but don't hold me to it.
My VS has a level 2 dash, and has the SRS airbag warning light on the right side of the dash that comes on for 3 seconds and then goes off again each time the car is started. It doesnt have the seatbelt warning lamp on the right side though.Ive noticed that none of the early VS's (1995 models)had this seatbelt warning light.Just the later model VS's have it.Im not too sure about the level 1 or level 3 dashes, but I do know the later VS's with the level 2 dash have the seatbelt warning light,Im not sure if they still have the the SRS light as well though.Ive got a couple of them sitting around for spares,I will have to check them out ..

my 97 series II clalais has the seat belt one, it only comes on for like three seconds and goes off though
Bit of a late update but have seen some of these threads around so thought id share this information.
All VS's after Jan 96 should have a working Seatbelt Warning Light displayed for 5 seconds, this is because of ADR Changes at the time, instrument clusters from Nov 95 had the light module fitted but didn't have the circuitry on the cluster and had no bulb fitted, from Dec 95 all the required changes were made to the clusters but it was still not used, they then released a revised Trip Module(button assembly) which had the extra line to short the light for 5 seconds from Jan 96.
The light is basicly shorted between the Trip Module and the Airbag light by the trip module on key turn, as the airbag light stays on for the same amount of time.
thanks The1, most of my light problems are solved now, just need a scan tool to get rid of the airbag light.
