iv got a 93 vr v6 im just after an auto 4l60e iv found that they vary from model to model as far as electrics go iv got a serous 1 and im pretty certain that the serous 2 has an extra pin on the plug im after the codes for them 4hhd etc. im pretty sure i have a 4hhd correct me if im wrong. im just after a rebuilt one or just one in good nick with low k's to go with my new motor. it has a 8 Bolt Crank which he says it will fit an auto or manual so im hoping it will fit all autos if not please let me know
and if any one knows of a good cheap one in QLD near-ish to rockhampton let us know
try ebay, they had several "refurbished" 4l60e's going in queensland a week ago.
There have been hundreds of threads started on these forums in regards to swapping autos between different models.
Best bet and to keep it simple, get an auto from the same car as yours, like a VR in your case, get a 4hdd or a 5hdd with a 12 pin connector (Thats what your car should have) but it never hurts to check either.
Ive heard before that the year of the car model corresponds to the trans number like 4HDD = 1994,and 5HDD = 1995,and 6HDD = 1996 and so on..
yeah im trying to keep it as simple as i can i picked up a reco motor on ebay at a very good price and now im looking another for engine harness and another box to make the hole swap easier. iv never done anything as much as a engine swap before so im pretty clueless on alot of it the box iv got now its is alrite except changing from 3rd to 4th it revs up for split second before changing when cold so im not sure if it just needs a service because before i did my last service i found metal filings in the pan and throughout the fuild when i bought the car it had corroded cooler lines which have been replaced and im hoping thats where the metal came from. it was clunking into gear when i put it into drive everyone said it was the uni ball joint. but it came good after i serviced it
and im trying to keep the cost down
any one know if this is true (Ive heard before that the year of the car model corresponds to the trans number like 4HDD = 1994,and 5HDD = 1995,and 6HDD = 1996 and so on..)
Correct, check the diagram below:
ok thank you that is very useful cheers
metal filings are the norm, depending on what you mean, generally the magnet will have a thin film of metal on it, if you mean you found chunks visiable to the human eye your tranny is stuffed.
lots of things can cause what you have described, little detail and not driving the car make it hard to start throwing suggestions at you but it sounds like an electronic component is failing. That is unless you did find massive chunks of metal then something else has gone buggerey.
yeah im thinking of taking it to an auto shop and save abit and it wasnt chunks just fines through it and im hoping the diagram isnt just for us it looks correct
