Default How does it fit? Vt engine cover

Okay, So I got myself a set of VT Engine Covers YaY! but I cant get them to fit flush obviously. Looking at the engine the on the left side the cover hits the trans dip stick and I cant move it out of the way and I dont have anything to bolt up the front too.

So any help would be great as I want to get them to fit flush before getting them sprayed!!

Ill try get pics up soon!

You might have to cut that bit out by the looks of it, if its not possible to mod the dip stick position? What did they do on the S2VS?

I have been told that I may have to machine it somewhere and also have to get some sort of mounting bracket for the front to sit on ? I know it can be done but don't know how lol any one able to shed some light ?

I've seen some vt covers on a vs stato so they can definitely fit maybe with some modification

Well looking at the pics now, I can see that you have almost made it fit. Just cut away the area that hits the trans dip stick and your problem would be solved? Assuming that's the only place it hits?

Ok I got this off another website but I don't completely get where I have to machine it.

"The ideal way to fix this is to machine that little edge down on each side of the manifold where the covers bolt too. The not as effective way is to space up the mounting plate for the front cover which bolts to the throttle body with a few washers and then space up the front cover itself again with a few more washers. I did this on mine as pulling the manifold off just for that was way too much effort and cost. When I do a cam change some time down the line, then i'll machine the manifold for the proper fit.

You will also need to get the VT mounting plate for the front cover as it has a bulbous bit that sticks up and the front cover screws down from the top. VN - VS covers screw on from underneath so you cannot mount the VT cover to those plates."

You need to get the throttle support bracket from a VT Commodore V8 to make them fit properly. A couple of washers on top of the screw hole under the cover will allow the correct height when you tighten the cap screw in the centre of the cover.
