Hi everyone,
Today i did the big drive from hervey bay to brisbane and everything was fine except when climbing hills at 100k's it was misfiring. Rang mechanic when i got to brisbane who suggested either the leads or the coils as when he last did the coils he only replaced one of them.
Took it to local mechanic who said leads where not in enough and fixed that. I have to admit imediately after it did sound better and i thought sweet problem fixed.
Went down to the shops ( i am a girl after all ) and when i got back in started the car and car shook like crazy. But then settled. 100m's down the road car started badly misfiring. I limped it to nearest mechanic who diagnosed bad coils. I replaced all three coils. ( not the mechanic he couldnt get me in for days ) But the problem still is there and now its backfiring under load as well. Any suggestions??? I am now stranded 300km's from home and need to get back ASAP.
If the 3 ignition coils have all been replaced along with the spark plugs and plug leads, then it could be a faulty DFI module which is the thing under the 3 ignition coils that they sit on and connect to.You should be able to pick up a good second hand DFI module cheap. Also its worth checking the DFI module wiring connector. The connector pins can become corroded, which causes a bad connection, which can then cause problems like misfiring, crook running etc.
Id also get the fuel pressure tested to make sure the fuel pump is working fine, and Id replace the fuel filter if it hasnt been renewed in a while..
Spark plugs or leads
