hi guys cleaned out my throttle body last week cause it was closing very slowly, but after a really good clean it was snapping opening and shut, but after a two weeks its back to closing slowly, so hence when i change gears, when cold i need to wait a good second or two b4 a gear change, most of the shit came out of the shaft that opens closes butterfly, does this need to be lubericated or what, if i put greese on the shaft it closes fast again or when car is hot?
Just sounds like the butterfly shaft has crud in it and binding up. Not sure whats in the shaft as far as a bearing or anything?? But if its just a shaft it should be fairly simple to dissmantle, pull the butterfly out and clean out the bore. But just working the butterfly with some spray lubricant might get it.
what was the crud you got out of the TB? if it's excess blowby oil, maybe putting a catch can inline to the pcv inlet of your TB may eliminate the oil buildup in your TB and keep it cleaner so it doesn't play up as much.
if you dont wanna spend much $$$$ get a cheapy off fleabay and try it.
Worst case i've seen a $30 one on there, no baffles in it though but you could do what i did for a mate and shove stainless steel scourer inside it as a baffle to trap the oil out of the vapour and return the gasses back to the TB via the PCV as per standard.
Also check the IAC valve, mine was built up with carbon deposits that bad that two months ago I started it up and it just started to rev out to 6500rpm and wouldn't stop til I turned it off. Thought it was sticking acc cable, but was the Idle valve? Cost me $55 for new one, and ran fine after. Ppl told me that ecu may be causing and need to c auto electrician, so yer saved $$$$ spoke to a mate who is a Holden technician and told me check the IAC( common problem in them)
