Plz can someone help? I have a VR Statesman 5L which just will not start. I turn the ignition and the fuel pump operates no worries but the motort does not turn. I called the RAA out and he said he dont know what is wrong. AQfter he left I realised my alarm is not working erither. I would be grateful for any info
Check your keyhead, if the bcm does not recieve a signal from your keys then as far as I know the engine will not even try to turn over.
Just as a simple test click the button on your keys and see if the central locking is working, if not then you could try replacing your battery in your keys and if that fails then you might be up for a bcm and keyhead to suit.
that is funny, my bcm lets my car turn over witout even a keyhead, i have a normal commodore key wit no electrics inside of it nad it runs fine
I think I seen a post from you a while ago with a picture of you holding a key with no key head. To be honest that is the first vr that I have seen that has not needed the keyhead to start.
If you happen to get a bit of spare time 1 day have a look at your memcal inside your ecm and see if it has been reprogramed and somebody has taken off the security. Or if you could get the code that is on top of the memcal.
Also 1 question when you turn your key to the cranking position does it take a few seconds before the motor goes to turn over just for my own curiosity???
Possibly the neutral safety switch might be faulty if its an auto but check the above aswell
The VR gregorys workshop manual says that very early VR's didnt have the timed delay for the immobiliser bypass or override, these used the bypass key switch, located in the front passenger side door jamb near the door hinges.
Also under the Body Control Module (BCM) section of the workshop manual,it says that theres two categories of BCM used on VR's depending on the model and equipment fitted.Utility, executive, acclaim,S, and GLI models are equipped with a low series BCM. Berlina, calais, statesman,VXI and newport are equipped with a high series BCM.
Low series controls the following-
central door locking (except utility),washer timer, security, courtesy lamp delay, auto lamps off,and if applicable, cruise control and power windows.
High series-
same as low series with the following extra functions-variable windscreen wiper delay, power aerial, speed sensitive power steering(calais, newport and statesman),instrument lamp dimmer, auto lamps off with delay, rear lamp failure warning, rear demister, and late model vehicles, the theft deterrent systrem.
Early model VR's that had a bosch high series BCM have a seperate Theft Deterrent Module(TDM).
The low series BCM is wired into the diagnosis connector for trouble shooting by an authorised dealer. The high series BCM has a seperate green coloured diagnosis connector which is strapped to the steering column.Early models are equipped with a key override for the security system, the later models have a timed delay period.
Maybe these early models also didnt need the coded keyfob..
The gregorys must class the mid BCM as part of the low series.
