    Default fuel problem

    Hi all,

i bought a VS and all was fine until the fuel got down to a quarter of a tank, once it hits this level and i turn a left hand corner she cuts out (fuel starved). Anyone come across this before and is it the pick up in the tank, pump im sort of at a loss and dont wanna blow heaps of coin replacing everything if i dont need to.

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Exactly this is happening to me at the moment. Mine does it on the last line just above the E. I was told it had something to do with a swirl pot or something.

Return line to the swirl pot inside the tank has probably broken, pump pickup is in the swirl pot and return fuel is sprayed in the pot through a jet which is supposed to make the fuel swirl around the pickup keeping it submerged, when it breaks the fuel is just sprayed into the tank so when you corner the fuel runs away from the pot and the pump pickup runs dry.

As above....return hose to swirl pot....it may have just gotten dislodged or broken usually when the pump is changed. People have managed to replace this hose but you need long thin fingers plus the hose is a special type that can stand being immersed in petrol and is expensive.....think about $50 for 300mm. If the old hose is just dislodged you may be able to get it back in position. You would need to drop the tank to do this properly. Other options are another tank which may have the same problem or keep the fuel above 1/4. Do a search as someone had a thread on replacing the hose.

How do you get to it without a angle grinder? And is it at all possible that when I installed my fuel cradle I completely missed the swirl pot? (sorry to hijack your thread "j-man")
