    Default How Strong??

Recently got a VS v8 and got told by few guys their bulletproof motors? Before I had VT genIII but got bored of it and liked the VS models better for some reason.. Are the diffs strong, gearbox and ofcourse the motors strong in these older V8 models??

Strong enough, but anything will break when given enough of a hiding.

I think the motors are mainly bulletproff because of the fact they run moderatly low compression and rev limited to 5500rpm. Its pretty hard to hurt an old 304 donk with those figures. Gearbox wise, i read plent on hear to suggest the autos are of an average stregnth. The T5 seems relativly strong at the stock power levels in mine. Cant comment on diffs really, but people tend to increase the ratio on them which helps enhance their ability to handle a bit of extra power.

Or a lack of care & maintenance.

Mine's now got about 207,000 kms on it. Motor still going great, gearbox seems fine but diff has started being noisy. Only previous problems with these parts have been the bolt ons like water pump, fan clutch hub, dizzy etc. and axle seals. Both have now been replaced (7 years apart mind you). I think the loss of oil from the last seal that went may have lead to the noisy diff problem I now have.
