    Default Help after battery Change

Hi guys, bit of a problem after i changed the battery in my VS exec. Turns on fine and everything seems normal for a minute or two then both indicator lights turn on and off intermittently and a warning light appears on the dash. I took it for a spin around the block and the car turned off while turning the corner. Any ideas?? Thanks in advance!

It sounds like one of the terminals has a bad connetion, and as the battery moves slightly as you corner,it causes the contact to break momentarily.Id remove and clean both the terminals.

I always thought a car couldn't power down aslong as the altenator is giving off current - cause I have swapped batteries with a mate with both cars still going!

but it does sound like an earthing problem

Yeah,I depends on the output of the alternator. If its in good condition and is pumping out heaps of amps, then it wont make hardly any difference disconnecting the battery ,as you found out when you swapped over batteries with the engine running. But if the alternator is not working at its best, then it can make a fairly noticable difference once the battery is disconnected, the engine can even stall if its not kept running above an idle.

I would be checking the output of the alternator and makeing sure the battery terminals are nice and clean.

If you have the motor running and disconnect the battery the motor will still run most of the time.
But if the alternator is in really bat condition then there is a possible chance it can turn off.
Check the voltage output of the alternator and load test it.
Check and clean all the earth points
Check the alternator positive wire from battery to alternator.
Check for codes its worth a try
