Hi all, I am wanting to buy the 2 front regulators in my front doors [for now] to convert from manual winders to power, but wondering if those ones on ebay are any good, I rang the wreckers and they want between $50-$65 each for 15 year old ones, but the new ones on ebay are only about $70 each for brand new ones, has anyone had any experience with the ebay regulators ? I would rather buy the new ones if they are ok.
thanks
can you post up a link to the ebay ones. if there the same as old ones they should be fine, but they may fit differently; needing you to drill/tap different mounts

I was worried if they would fit straight in without any mucking around,
Also trying to find the right plug/s for the centre console on my car, at the front of the console under the dash I found 2 plugs, both male plugs one having 7 plugs and the other 9 plugs, are these the plugs for the centre console switches ?
I haven't picked up my switches yet, just wanted to make sure I had the connections first.
Hey mate, what state are you in? I am pretty sure i have genuine power windows for the VR or VS sitting around here somewhere. PM me if in Brissy and if still looking for the setup.
Yea I've got a full set with looms in my shed too I'm getting rid of but I'm in WA
Thanks guys but I live in Vic, would like to install new ones if i can, if those ebay ones are ok.
Still can't work out if those 2 connections for the console switches are the right ones.
I couldn't see them properly before, one has 7 plugs & the other has 6 plugs in it, are these the right ones ?
i believe they are the 2 plugs for power windows. from memory, the 7pin is for the right hand side switches includes child lock button and the 6 is for the left hand side
i will check my doco at home and post up. easy way to check to see if you have all the loom, under the dash is a fuse panel, check the diagram on the back of the cover, it will list a fuse location and relay location for power windows. once located on the diagram, look for them on the actual fuse & relay panel, there wont be any fuse or relay in the spot, but look for the metal contacts inside the slots, if you have contacts in both fuse points, and 4 contacts for the relay, you just need to add motors, switch blocks and 4 patch looms!
Thanks mate, I did check that fuse, i think no 5 and it had 2 lugs there for a fuse and no relay above it.
I have just taken the interior off the left door and found a small connection in there not connected up to anything, so I think i am right now for all the wiring needed.
thanks again
no probs theres a good how-to on what bolt sizes n stuff u need
for the rear doors u need a loom from the B piller to the doors from the wreckers or make up ur own like i did.
oh and no.5 fuse isnt a fuse its a circuit breaker!
I have been looking at that " how to ", great post, one thing this old bugger can't understand because I was taught the old imperial measurements, the M8 bolts needed, are they 8 mil in length, width ?
thanks for your help.
G'Day Rony, M8 means the bolt is Metric and the the bolt diameter is 8mm. I'd like to say I knew that 'off the cuff' but us old bastards are also cunning, so I used Google.

Ibought some power regulators from ebay a few years back to replace my factory drivers, it lasted 3 years till teeth broke off and wouldnt go all the way up. A few months back I opted for a factory one from the wreckers. The ebay one did fit straight in tho with no fuss.

I need some statesman/ calais woodgrain for drivers side panel!!
as hako said 8mm diameter.. from memory they're 50mm in length. i;ve had my second hand regs for over 5years and not an issue
Thanks everyone, much appreciated.
Hope someone can help me, I have installed the first regulator, wiring etc, no problems but having problems with the actual window itself, I had it all set up then I pressed the button to make it go up and it only went half way up then it stopped about half way.
So i pulled the glass out again [ it was real hard to pull out] thought it might be those rubbers inside the side rails stopping it, they are a bit twisted so i pulled them out and pushed them back in and smeared petroleum jelly on the inside of them, that has made it slightly easier but still pretty tight though, i don't want to burn out the motors on the reg's, I wouldn't think that they are suppose to be that tight or is something still wrong ?
appreciate any help
if you send it down and up again but below the halfway, does it move freely? if so i would say the window isnt sitting properly either the side rails or the 2 white lugs arent correct. the window might be off centre and catching on the felt on the way up on guide (b-piller side of glass)
Thanks mate, its good now no problems, it was the rubber in the guide not sitting in the channel properly, it was the B pillow side as you said, it goes up and down easily now.
Its time to throw down a coldy,
Thanks again
In trouble again, when powering up the window goes to about 2 inches [ 50 mm i think] from the top with no problem, goes good up and down to that point then really struggles the rest of the way, it sounds like a bad creak noise when its struggling, it will go up if i help it and same going back down, it goes good up to about 3/4 of the way up then the trouble starts.
This has me nackered, to my untrained eye everything appears to be ok.
bumping up
hrmm, the only thing i can think of if the felt has worn enough towards the top of the door, either A or B piller side, and its running on rubber, where the friction is to great. other than that, that rubber hasnt popped out again?
watch the window as it goes up, but mainly at thewindows edges from both the inside and outside (have a helper wind as you look) it will be either catching on a guide or the window is tilting forward/back as it goes up, thus being of center.
Yep, it was off center as you said, its running up and down now like it should.
Thanks very much for all the help.
