    Default what tramsmission

    hey just a quick question i have a 2000 model vs v8 ute (auto) and was just wondering what transmission is behind my engine as i am going to buy a service kit for it soon?? cheers

    could the auto trans be the one they use in the early vt's would they be the same as the vs ones?
    i know the engine is the 179 kw one they use in the vt's

    You have a 4L60E trans. Although there are some differences in the actual trans from VN -> VT and between V6 and V8, the service kits are similar. The only difference being the filters depending whether you have a shallow pan or a deep pan.

    Also fluid is Dexron III ATF

    Pull out the transmission dip stick, and if it is a deep pan, it should say "deep pan" next to where the oil level is. If its a shallow pan then it wont say anything.

    Should also be a sticker on the bell housing saying like 6HHD or something. thats the part number.
