hey just a quick question i have a 2000 model vs v8 ute (auto) and was just wondering what transmission is behind my engine as i am going to buy a service kit for it soon?? cheers
also what would be the best auto trans fluid to use?
could the auto trans be the one they use in the early vt's would they be the same as the vs ones?
i know the engine is the 179 kw one they use in the vt's
You have a 4L60E trans. Although there are some differences in the actual trans from VN -> VT and between V6 and V8, the service kits are similar. The only difference being the filters depending whether you have a shallow pan or a deep pan.
Also fluid is Dexron III ATF
There is no such thing as stupid questions, Only stupid people.
Pull out the transmission dip stick, and if it is a deep pan, it should say "deep pan" next to where the oil level is. If its a shallow pan then it wont say anything.

Should also be a sticker on the bell housing saying like 6HHD or something. thats the part number.
