Reverse Light?

Hey guys realized my reverse light in my vs ute not working? Checked the globes and were ok, but still replaced them thinking they were busted.. Still no reverse light? Is there a fuse or switch that controls the revers or tail lights? Cheers

Theres a switch under the shifter.

Check for power & earth at the globe with a test light or a multi-meter. If there is no power the problem lies at the power source eg fuse,switch, brocken wire.
Check the contacts on the globe holder give them a clean if need be. good luck.

this may sound dumb but are you positive you have the gear in reverse. haha only reason is cuz my reverse lights only go on if my gear stick is 100% clicked in probably a contact problem but yeah just make sure

The switch will be on the gearbox or shifter.

Where abouts on gearbox? Iv changed the fluid in gearbox before couldn't see where the switch is?? I think my gearbox is a Getrag?it's a 98 vs or might be a t5 ?

98' v8 ute will be a getrag m34. With a manual box the reverse light switch is on the drivers side of the gearbox. It will have an electrical plug to it and the switch threads in. From memory just a little higher and closer to the bellhousing than the oil filler plug. This is common for them to fail as oil eventually gets inside the switch. Approx $25 from holden for a new one.
