how to install a towbar in a vr sedan

hey guys,

can anyone give me a detailed explanation on how to install a towbar on a vr sedan. the bar is a hayman reese 1200kg

It should have come with instructions unless it is second hand.

You will need to remove the bumper and the boot carpet. There are dimples in the boot just under the two curved sections of the sound deadening on the front of the boot looking at it from the back of the car. You will need to drill those out. The fitting kit will have a plate, crush tubes and long bolts, these go in through those holes, then the fit the towbar up from underneath hanging it off those two bolts. Hold it up with a jack or an axle stand so that it sits firmly against the car. Fit the washers and nuts to the two bolts but do not tighten them yet. Drill the bolt holes from the back and under the back where the plates line up on the car. Fit the plates on the inside and the bolts and washers. Tighten all bolts.

That is how it fits up from memoery, it's been a while since I have done a standard Hayman Reese bar.

ok cheers, i pulled the bumper off and the boot carpet out this arvo, so i'll give it a go tomorrow and see what happens

ok i found the dimples, i just had to strip off a bit of tht sound dedening stuff
