Im looking at replacing this pulley bearing because it noisy but cant find what its actually called. Does anyone no the correct name for this pulley and if i can replace just the bearing or will i have to change the whole pulley? sits just under the coil pack
Not my car in the pic!!
Thanks
Just an idler pulley. Doesn't do anything except route the belt. And piss you off when the bearings go in them.
You will have to replace the whole pulley as the plastic is moulded around the bearing. Take it off and take it in with you when you get the new one as there are two sizes. They come in metal or plastic, get the metal one.
Just ask for the "6 groove idler pulley" for a ecotec V6.

Agree with not an abba fan.
Its the top idler pulley for a vs v6 but i would take it with you or measure it first as there is two different sizes utilised between vs-vy which people often mix. This is not really a bad thing, but can result in incorrect belt length/tension if you don't keep it the same.

cheers guys, got one from repco today. $26 for the metal type.
Thanks heaps
Guys, you all got it wrong. It's the water pump pulley, idler pulley is the one below. Don't you see the rubber house coming out of it?
That hose comes out BEHIND the pulley, the water pump is the one directly underneath the top hose.
The pulley circled IS an idler pulley.
If your replacing one I would replace all 3 at the same time. Had one fail spectacularly not long ago and when I pulled the other 2 they were on their way out as well. Fairly cheap to replace all of them.
