Went down to Holden today and the guy wanted $50 to clear the light. Does this sound right? Is there anyone on here who could do it for me for free or cheaper? Does all it take is a TECH2 tool on there and 5sec of work and its done or is there more to it? Cheers guys.

you need a tech1 to clear SRS codes, yeh only takes a minute some dealers will do it for free or close to it, some will want a $100. Im in QLD so not use to you, perhaps try some auto elec's they may have a scantool that can clear it also and do it cheaper.
the codes are in the srs module, powering off the module will still retain the fault codes, scantool is the only way to clear them. :/
Just take out the srs fuse if you dont plan on hitting anything
If I was running a workshop for a living and spent $5-7000 0n a decent scan tool, it would be $50 to clear a code.
Pay the $50 and get it done.
Then it's done.
If I told you I was a compulsive liar, would you believe me?
It would also be worth finding out what caused the fault.
Friend of mines bema through airbag light as soon as someone sat on the passenger seat, the mat was stuffed. So resetting it only ever fixed it for 5mim til he fixed the problem.
When theres a fault in the SRS system, the SRS control module logs and stores error codes, just like the ECU and ABS modules do, these codes will help point you to what has caused whatever code to set and caused the SRS light to come on.
Below is a list of SRS error codes for the Tech 1 scantool ,to give you an idea as to what the different SRS codes are..As already mentioned,a scantool is the only way to clear these codes and reset the SRS light on the dash.

was going to be charged $99 by a Toowoomba auto electrical mob for not even fixing the problem... came up with code 247 on the sdm
come back to their charge was that Holden would charge $120.
will be looking at replacing appropriate module.
