Default VS Rear Muffler Cracked, replace muffler or complete exhaust.

    Hey everyone

I went down an exhaust place earlier to get a dual chrome tip Installed and to try to have my muffler raised up as it sits very low.

When he had it up on the hoist he said the rear muffler was cracked and I always thought it had a redback system turns out it is super muffler or something like that. I also suspect the Cat is on its way out, using a lot of fuel and a very strong eggy fuel smell from the exhaust.

I was quoted $240 for a rear muffler and $240 for a non hi flow Cat, so I am considering replacing the System completely, what would the cost be for a 2.5 inch Redback, high flow Cat and Extractors for a Ecotec?

    Thanks

Under $200 will get you a 2.5 system. Get a CAT from a wreckers if all you want is stock, you can get xplode high flow cats on here for $170 so sounds overpriced to me...

The only drama you may have is if you don't have a welder. The VS extractors come with a flange that has to be welded to the existing engine pipes so they bolt up. Everything else is fairly straight forward.

Ok thanks I will wait a little while until this muffler has failed and will contact you to arrange purchase of a new system.

Mine cost $900. Extractors, 2.5 inch redback exhaust, 1x redback sports muffler, and new exhaust tip. Standard cat is still on the car.

I was told that the standard cats on these last forever so there is no point changing it when I did the exhaust on my wagon.

The standard cat is ceramic, so no, it won't last forever. All cats wear out, but steel high flows last the longest.
