Just had my ride lowered 40mm all round with Eibach Pro Springs.I supplied all the new gear from strut bearings to the panhard rod.needed new lower control arm bushes in the rear though that had to be fitted.$800.00 just in labour?Total $1300 with bushes and two ball joints plus alignment.Thoughts anyone
Did the workshop have big windows ??? Because they saw you coming
How many hours labour on the bill ??
I would guess:
Lowering 2-3 hours
Control arm bushes 1-2 hours by the time you drop them out and press old out and new in
ball joints which ones? On the control arms they'd already removed (extra 30min) or in the front? (another 1-2 hours depending if control arm or tierod)
Pretty damned good hourly rate though.
500 for bushes, ball joints and wheel alignment sounds steep. or did the just replace the lower arms (I've done that with friends because we don't have a press and it's much quicker) in which case price is about right for parts
thanks for the input.the owner of the shop did the job and took 8 hours just on the suspension?front ball joints were replaced and he pressed out the rear lower bushes.i supplied everything else at a cost of $1400.00(whitline bars and pins, monroe gt gas sports stuts/shocks etc ) $2700.00 all up
big windows for sure.8 hours just on the suspension?
WTF? Aren't bushes like $15 each???
If you supplied most of the parts then you got totally RIPPED OFF,you got charged $100 per hr labour let us all know who they are so then we all know who never to go to,was he a one eyed mule?
Front and rear springs and shocks. 1 hour labour. $65.

That's pretty quick going to do front and rear in an hour.
Bush prices vary all over the place. Did he put nolethanes in? Those aren't cheap!
Nz mechanics are charging 80-120 / hour for labour these days. So 100aud/hour is at the upper end of that.
