Weird Starting issue - Need guru advice

Hey Guys,

Got a rather weird issue starting my VR V6 5 speed, when i go to start it in the morning it kicks over but doesn't fire, i try it a few times and still nothing.

If i then come back 20 minutes later and turn the key, it starts straight away ?? wtf
Also fuel pump was changed 3 months ago.

Id start by checking for any logged error codes,see if that turns up anything .Id check the wiring and connectors that go to the temperature sensor on the front of the engine,theres two temp sensors,one has a single wire connected to it,this one is for the temp gauge on the dash.The other temp sensor is used by the ECU and has more than one wire going to it,this is the one you need to check or replace...Id also replace the fuel filter if it hasnt ben replaced recently.Id also replace the spark plugs if they are more than six months old,and replace the plug leads if they are more than a year old.Another thing to check is to see if any smoke comes from the exhaust when it first fires up.If it blows black sooty smoke for the first minute or so,then you most likely have a leaking injector or a leaking fuel pressure regulator.
