g'day ive got a v8 manual vs ute with a lsd that needs recoing and i also have a v6 vs auto ute with an open wheeler diff in it, i was wondering if its a straight swap to put the v6 diff in the v8 ute to get it going again while i save for a reco, i plan on swapping the whole diff assemblies apart from calipers and rotors, am i going to have problems with the tailshaft, unis/yoke?
Its a straight swap between vs v6 and v8 diffs. All the mounts/hangers etc are all the same for a ute. Only difference is the v8 has shot peened crown wheel and pinion gears to handle a little extra punishment. Also be aware that if they have a different ratio this will throw out your speedo accuracy (both should be 3.08:1 though).
Basically drop your upper and lower control arms, panhard rod, tailshaft, shocks you can leave the calipers and lines attached by just opening op the tabs on the diff housing which holds the metal lines.
Cheers
