maybe i programmed my key wrong...expert eletronic advice please
well ive tried to get a answer in a different thread but nothing so im gonna try a second post because im beginning to get frustrated since i cant do nothing and dont know what to do...
okay i got my key from mister minit he told me how to program it (unlock car manually wait until alarm goes off manually and reboots itself and put key in and start leave going for 60 secs).
what i did was - put all plugs back in i had taken out, they were removed because we tried to bypass the immobliser we didnt know about the key or the 45min wait period, i opened the door manually and at this stage the alarm was off (nothing set it off) so i tried opening the doors unplugging the alarm box and putting back together but nothing seemed to have set it off (i presumed the last time it was used the alarm was turned off by my old key) so i sat in the car locked all the doors (which is wat i was told to do) and turned key. the car turned over but nothing, so i repeated the process and wallah! the car started.
now the hard part is now. when i open the door. the alarm comes ON when i lock the door. the alarm goes OFF. i know this because when i unlock the door jump in car and start the car the alarm comes on (from when the key turns the dash board lights up) and the weird thing is the car will start while the car is running then will stop about 5 minutes after this and wont let you start again.
you have to unlock the door with the button on the key (alarm will be turned on) jump in the car shut the doors and press the button on the key again (alarm will turn off) then you can start it and away you go. does anyone know of this issue ?
Very few scan tools program keys. The remote keyheads from Mr Minut work well and without a Tech1 (or equivalent tool). However, to get the new remote keyhead to work you must have an already working keyhead to disable the immobiliser/security system in the first place.
or stop waisting $70 on a keyhead everytime you program it wrong, and spend $25 to get it programmed properly the first time
it hasn't been 'everytime' its been ONE time. and where do i spend $25 ''in the first place'' i dont know so i didn't mr minute was the way to go so thats where it went and obviously ive done something wrong because the car starts fine! it just doesnt alarm when i want it to! read properly.
What about just removing the alarm and not worringing about it. Thats all i would do. Sounds odd whats goin on, like it might have screwed up the BCM or somthing (i assume thats where the alarm is rigged too). Not sure if thats an option for you. But to me sounds like u gonna have to bite the bullet and take it to a reputable auto electrician that knows commodores well.
